Understanding Membership
Signing Registry membership is open to prospective and practicing Notary Signing Agents interested in pursuing or advancing their career in the mortgage loan signing field. In principle and in practice, the Registry values and seeks a diverse membership - new to the industry and/or experienced.
Member Requirements
-
You must be a Commissioned Notary Public in the state where you reside and/or will be performing mortgage loan closings. You can join the Signing Registry while waiting on your commission; you must submit a copy of your notary commission within 60 days of joining.
-
All members are required to take the Basic Skills Exam and pass with a minimum score of 80%. The Basic Skills Exam is located at the Signing Registry Message Board, “Exams" forum.
Listing a Profile Page in the Professional Signing Agent Locator Database
-
Members must submit proof of a minimum of 12 individual loan signings as confirmation of experience. NOTE: Submission of experience is a requirement to list your profile page in the SA database - it is NOT a requirement to join the Signing Registry.
-
Members may submit proof of 12 signings via work and/or order confirmations, their Signing Agent Service Log, or by a detailed listing of company names and dates of signings. Information may be sent to the Registry via our fax (413-723-5191); or email, info@signingregistry.com or regular mail delivery. NOTE: The Signing Registry is sensitive to confidential information about members and/or borrowers. We ask that all confidential information be blacked out. Our only interest is to verify proof of experience.
-
Without exception, all members listed in the Professional Signing Agent Locator database must prove their signing experience and take the Basic Skills Exam.
The Registered Signing Agent
Our certification exam validates the knowledge and skills of mortgage loan signing professionals. The demand for skilled Signing Agents continues to grow and it is a fact that companies look more favorably upon Signing Agents who are certified.
RSA certification is a valuable credential to help start or enhance a loan signing career. Individuals who attain RSA certification will be listed above those who are not certified in the Professional Signing Agent Locator displays.
While not a prerequisite, the Signing Registry Professional Skills Training Guide is a great way to study and learn the ins-and-outs of the industry. It is highly recommended while studying for RSA certification.
The RSA exam is located at the Signing Registry Message Board, “Exams Forum.” Cost of the certification RSA exam is $25.
If you encounter ANY difficulties registering, or need assistance, please send an email to the webmaster. Be sure to include your return email address and a contact phone number. When describing the problem, please be as specific as possible. Thank you.
